Chad & Katie : Wedding Highlights, Raleigh, NC

We truly loved getting to know Katie & Chad. These two are such warm, affirming people and are a perfect match! We got to know them over beers at City Beverage and then later when they welcomed us into their home to film the Documentary About Love that Chad arranged for Katie’s birthday.

So, it was no surprise that their families were just as warm and affirming when we met them at the wedding last month. We’re so glad to be part of wedding days as meaningful as this one. This couple and their families know how to have FUN! From the trolley ride through downtown Raleigh, to the cocktail entertainment from Duke Rhythm & Blues, to the festive dance floor, this wedding day was packed to the brim with fantastic details and tons of smiles!

Katie & Chad, we have no doubt you will have such a happy life together. Thank you for including us in your wedding celebrations and we look forward to documenting more of your life together as the years go by!

Jennifer Buenviaje - Wow! This film is amazing! Such a great piece of work. :) Thank you for sharing. We had such an awesome time working with Katie and her bridal party. Best of luck to Katie and Chad and again, gorgeous, gorgeous work! (Jen with Makeupforyourday)

veil and bow - Really great video guys! You two are total rock stars :-)

Julia Bachelder - LOVE this one!

Jenny Tenney - So impressive! Loved the music, the timing, the moments captured, especially the dance moves. Amazing job!

Evan & Jenna : Wedding Highlights, Nags Head, NC

Evan’s a scientist, Jenna’s a graphic designer. Both like to dance, as is evidenced in this highlights film! They decided to get married at the beach in Nags Head and asked us to be there to capture it. We’re so happy we could share it with them.

Some of the most memorable moments of the day: Philip filming Evan and his three brothers practice their dance moves for a reception surprise; seeing wedding details that could have only been put together by a graphic designer (Jenna designed the signs, posters, table numbers, wine labels); watching Jenna & Evan laugh off the weather frustrations and try to control her veil in 50 mph winds!

The couple and their families/friends surprised wedding guests with a choreographed flash mob to LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” (don’t pretend you haven’t seen this music video!). Keep watching til the very end to get a glimpse of their big dance.

Jenna and Evan: You two are fantastic! We thank you for including us in your wedding celebrations, and we just know that you’ll share so much joy as you create a life as husband and wife.

Wedding Highlights : Alex & Alyssa, Durham, NC

We met Alex & Alyssa for coffee one morning at Parker & Otis, a favorite Durham eatery, and after bonding over our Match.com experiences (they met on Match.com too!) we learned a bit about their lives in California as a rocket scientist (I kid you not!) and historian. With their wedding just a few months away we were incredibly impressed with how laid back they were that day. That day turned into their wedding day and still, as we filmed them getting ready we couldn’t help but take note of this totally relaxed bride and groom. It was so refreshing!

I loved Alyssa’s wedding style;  very “eco- vintage” (perfect for a reception at the Kings Daughter’s Inn, right? ). Mirroring the two historic inns where they spent their wedding day, she incorporated vintage elements such as old photos and milk-glass vases with the eco-friendly succulents and a green caterer!

Once again, we got to work alongside the lovely Barbara Lodge, who eloquently officiated over the ceremony on the grand front porch of the Greystone Inn overlooking downtown Durham.

We loved filming Alyssa & Alex’s friends playing old games (think Jenga and Scrabble) in the sunroom and cutting loose on the dance floor after toasting with champagne and Krispy Kremes. One thing is for sure: this wedding was completely original and reflected Alyssa & Alex in every detail. To the newlyweds: thank you for being so laid back and for enjoying your wedding day to its fullest! It was an honor to be a part of it.

Rev. Barbara Lodge - What a great video! You guys are SO talented!

Introducing : the Handcrafted Wedding Documentary

We’re on a constant quest for improvement. Whether we are in the backyard practicing our shooting techniques, in the studio mastering a new editing trick, or meeting with you for the first time, we’re always striving to be better, to make sure our films give your story a voice. Your wedding day is a culmination of many stories, some funny, some romantic, and some sad. But the truth is, no one tells your authentic story better than you and those you love!

Today we’re happy to introduce a new Inkspot Crow film: the Handcrafted Wedding Documentary. So, what is it?  We’ll sit down one-on-one with you (the bride & groom) as well as 4-6 guests and give you an opportunity to tell your story; to capture the unique and nervous energy on your wedding day, and to commemorate the hopes you have for your future together. This also gives your best friends and family an opportunity to share their memories and wishes for you (and for them to tell embarrassing stories about you!). We’ll blend everyone’s comments and stories into the films from your wedding day. This artful mix of interviews and event footage combines to create wedding films that truly capture your story and your voice.

We’re really excited about this because of all of the things we do at Inkspot Crow, we get the most joy out of getting to know the people we work with. This new format enables us to custom tailor our films through a more intimate understanding of each couple. Please enjoy the highlights film, below, which includes interview footage with the bride and groom. We’re hard at work on their Handcrafted Wedding Documentary, which will incorporate interview footage from their friends and parents as well!

Lara - Absolutely LOVE this!

Shaun & Ann-Marie : Wedding Highlights, Chapel Hill ,NC

On the short drive home from Ann-Marie & Shaun’s wedding last month, our conversation turned to how grateful we are to be part of days like this. After all, we’d escaped the damage of Hurricane Irene. Sure, we had crazy skies and howling winds, but the storm steered clear of the day’s celebrations in Chapel Hill.

Mostly though, we were grateful to have witnessed and recorded this marriage. Their wedding was the culmination of one chance meeting, hundreds of emails and letters, and several multi-continent visits as their love blossomed. As Ann-Marie says about their romance, “It was all very ‘Jane Austen’”.  So, we decided that it was imperative to somehow document this cinematic courtship and incorporate it into their wedding films. Before the ceremony, Philip and I spent two hours interviewing the couple’s friends and family from Australia, England and America. We learned a great deal about this couple by talking to their parents, closest mates, and of course, to the bride and groom on their wedding day. This is the first highlights film where we have incorporated interviews with the bride and groom, and we just love the sincerity it creates. We’re excited to begin editing their longer Wedding Film so we can add in the comments and dialog of their friends and family!

And as we drove home that night, we knew we’d been part of something big, and at the same time, quite intimate. Ann-Marie & Shaun, thank you so much for choosing us to be a part of this occasion. We’re really excited to call you both friends and can’t wait to hang out in your living room tonight. Big hugs to the lovely Sarah Der for the introduction!

Music: Jonsi : “Grow Till Tall”

Ceremony: St. Thomas More Church, Chapel Hill, NC
Reception Venue: La Residence, Chapel Hill, NC
Photographer: Sarah Der Photography, Chapel Hill, NC
