Patrick & Kendall : Highlands, NC : wedding highlights

It may seem odd that I’m writing a blog post for a wedding I never attended. While Philip and Ryan were hard at work filming Kendall & Patrick’s wedding weekend, I stayed on the couch (literally) waiting for Pax’s arrival and praying he would hold off until his dad made the 6 hour trip home from Highlands. Philip continued to send photos and post Instagrams of the weekend’s festivities: the unique vintage details, Kendall’s gorgeous dress, the gospel choir, his view from the mountaintop ceremony etc. So, when he came home with the footage I was prepared to see a glamorous wedding, filled with tons of dramatic details and cinematic landscapes. Philip, however, was way more excited about the couple themselves.  And after watching the footage of the toasts that their friends and family dedicated to Kendall & Patrick, it was easy to see why.

What became apparent in watching the myriad of rehearsal dinner toasts was the impact K+P have made on so many throughout their lives! It’s easy to look at Kendall and see a beautiful woman, or Patrick, and see “hot Patrick”, but those closest to them told about their inner beauty, their zeal, their dedication, their humor and their thoughtfulness. The footage Philip came home with (and eventually wove into this highlights film) was WAY better than I’d imagined. It wasn’t just beautiful; it was personal!

K+P: Wow. We feel like we’ve come to know you closely over the last year, first in New Orleans and even further during the trip to Highlands for your wedding. We’ll have to keep thinking of events/milestones to film for your family! Thank you for trusting us to document such personal and celebratory moments in your life; we’re very grateful!

Patrick & Kendall : Highlands, NC : pre-wedding festivities!

If you don’t remember this adorable couple, you’ll want to refresh your memory, and watch their Betrothal Ceremony Film once more! We first got the chance to film Kendall & Patrick last November, when they celebrated their engagement with close family at Kendall’s grandmother’s home in New Orleans. We left New Orleans with genuine excitement about the upcoming wedding weekend in Highlands, NC.
Fast forward 6 months. Kendall & Patrick invited their friends and family to the NC mountains for an entire weekend of fun-filled festivity to celebrate their marriage. This film is the first of two from their wedding weekend. Enjoy!

Otis & Nitasha : Wedding Highlights, Raleigh, NC

If there is one word that sums up this couple’s wedding celebration, it has to be: FUN! Nitasha & Otis went to great lengths to make sure their guests had an unforgettable evening. We had a blast too! We especially enjoyed watching their families experience two very culturally different ceremonies: a Hindu ceremony followed by a Christian ceremony; each family truly embracing the others’ customs and rituals. Perhaps our favorite part of the celebration was the Baraat, where the dhol player led Otis, his groomsmen, and family to the entrance of the ceremony, where they were met by Nitasha’s family. The energy from the percussion and the guests lining the hallways of the Renaissance Hotel was absolutely contagious! It set the tone for the rest of the evening.  Later that night,  after the Christian ceremony, the newlyweds and their bridal party started the reception with a choreographed dance, which got every guest on their feet. DJ Paradime, who is known for his unique mixes and club-style DJing, kept the party going the rest of the night.

The speech we included in this film was given by Nitasha & Otis’ close friend, Ms. Karen. She first introduced the couple! It’s apparent that N&O have given Ms. Karen much strength and joy in her recent fight with cancer, and we were deeply touched by her message to the couple.

N&O: From the moment we  met you for drinks at City Beverage, we knew you’d be such a fun couple to work with! Thanks for living up to our expectations and for choosing us to document your big wedding celebration! We’re so excited for all of the great things you’ll do as a couple and are so happy you’ll be staying in this area for awhile.

@Haley: it’s Jonsi, the lead singer of Sigur Ros (good ear ;) ), and the song’s name is Go Do

Sangeetha - Your video is inspiring. Thank you for sharing this. Congrats to the lovely couple and my hats off to everyone involved in the making of this movie!!!

admin - Thanks, everyone! We’ve gotten some pretty awesome feedback from this one, and the credit must go to N&O for being putting together such a unique and memorable day for their guests and to Tracy Adams for orchestrating all of it. What a pleasure to a part of it! Oh, and Haley: You were close. “Go Do” by Jonsi.

Mikkel - …and….I’m crying! And I don’t even know them! Seriously one of the BEST wedding videos I’ve ever seen!!! Everyone looked gorgeous and the side by side for the Indian and American weddings for Nitasha and Otis was so effective and special. LOVE the music and your cinematic style. I heard about you from Natalie at Birdhouse Productions!

Haley - Beautiful film. What’s the song? Sounds like Sigur Ros, but not positive. If anyone knows… please inform me!

Welcome Pax Morgan!

We’re  beyond excited to announce the newest addition to our family: Pax Morgan Henry!  Pax was born on May 31, 2012. He weighed in at a hefty 8 lbs 3 oz. and has brought us tons of smiles since the second he appeared! We’re learning to navigate the world of parenting a newborn, which is filled with challenges, but incredibly WORTH IT!

About his name: Pax, is the latin word for peace, which we hope our son will embrace and exemplify as he grows. His middle name, Morgan, is in remembrance of MacKenzie’s sister, who died in 1999.

Thank you for sharing in our joy over the last months as we prepared for Pax’s birth, and for supporting us in this awesome new adventure!

Win & Jenn : Wedding Highlights, Manteo, NC

I don’t think it was coincidence that the clouds over Manteo parted just in time for Jenn & Win’s wedding ceremony. Following an afternoon of ominous clouds and forecasts of storms, the sun beamed brightly for these two as they married at the Elizabethan Gardens among close family and friends. We were thrilled to be there! This couple truly knows the importance of family and we loved their laid back nature and the creativity they brought to their wedding celebrations.

Ok, this was our first time filming at the Elizabethan Gardens and we hope we’ll get to return! Yes, that is a hint for anyone reading this and looking for a wedding venue.  The gardens are the perfect backdrop for a seaside ceremony.  Jenn & Win’s ceremony site was sheltered among the trees, paths and fountains, but with an incredible view (and breeze) of the sea!  Seriously, it was gorgeous!

J + W: Thanks for making our job so fun! Honestly, we’ve really enjoyed getting to know you! We hope your grandmothers love watching the highlights film from your big day. Good luck settling in your new home; we know you will thrive there!
