Alex & Emily : Wedding Highlights, High Point, NC

Emily and Alex are incredibly sweet individuals and it’s so joyful to see them join as husband and wife. In fact, my heart leapt last weekend when we got to see them at another wedding we were filming, this time as married guests!  I first joined Emily and her mom at their home in High Point a month before their wedding, to hear about their plans for the big day and see the church and String & Splinter Club. Grace, of Grace Leisure Events, had done a fabulous job of bringing their vision to life, and it was such a treat to capture the glamorous details and sweet moments.

Emily & Alex : it’s to clear how happy you make each other. It’s our sincere hope that your first Christmas together is filled with warmth and joy. Thank you, truly, for allowing us to be a part of your wedding.

Dan & Lindsey : Wedding Highlights, Highlands, NC

Highlands, NC holds a very special place in our hearts; it’s where we celebrated our honeymoon! So, when Lindsey called me this summer to inquire about filming her wedding in Highlands, we were jumping for joy at the opportunity to return to this idyllic spot in the peak of fall! It turns out that Highlands holds a special place in this couple’s memories as well; it’s where Lindsey was born, and where Dan proposed to Lindsey!

Lindsey & Dan are such lovely and warm people! Since they live in Chicago, we met them for the first time on their wedding day and together with their family and friends, they made us feel welcome right away. The couple infused their own style into the rustic elegance of The Farm at the Old Edwards Inn. Lindsey surprised Dan with a quartet singing “So Happy Together” at the end of the wedding ceremony, and the groom’s cake paid homage to the buck that nearly prevented Dan from proposing to Lindsey.

Not only was the couple gracious and warm, but we worked with some of the most genuine, creative people that day too! A huge thanks to Becca at Asheville Event Co. for introducing us to Lindsey & Dan. We are inspired by husband-wife photography duo Jodi Miller and her husband Kurt. They are as kind as they are talented, and we hope to work with them again in the near future. For a peak at their photos of Lindsey & Dan, check out their post from the wedding day. Also, a big thank you to the staff at the Old Edwards Inn for creating an unparalleled wedding venue and for the very best vendor meal we’ve ever been served!

Lara Casey’s Birth Announcement : a documentary about love

Today we join many others in welcoming Grace Austin Isaacson to this world! Grace is Lara Casey and Ari Isaacson’s first baby, and she couldn’t have entered a home filled with more love, joy, and grace.

Last month Lara commissioned us to make a Documentary About Love, to document the final days of her pregnancy, her family’s anticipation, and introduce Grace to the world through a video birth announcement featuring “first photos” of baby Grace at the hospital, courtesy of Nancy Ray Photography.

We joined Lara in Grace’s nursery to discuss her excitement and hopes for their baby and their family. She showed us photos of her own mother and grandmother (whose voice you will hear on the video!) and opened up about her growing connection with Ari and the importance of her dear friends as role models in motherhood.

Lara: we couldn’t be happier for you today! We just know Grace will learn so much from you about the importance of family and God and will know the true joy of loving parents and doting “aunts”. I know the girls at Southern Weddings are already bursting with excitement to meet your little one! Thanks for being an inspiration to so many, in countless ways!

For more Grace goodness, visit the Southern Weddings blog and read Emily Ley’s post on Lara Casey’s site for their special announcement of Grace’s birth!

Special thanks to Nancy Ray of Nancy Ray Photography for sharing her beautiful photos for this project!
Music: Alexi Murdoch : “All My Days”

Cara Grace Galati - I had a friend just send me this. I love this film. So well done! And Nancy did a beautiful job on the photos as well.

Sara - Wow, Philip & MacKenzie, Congratulations to YOU on such a phenomenal documentary! I saw it over on Southern Weddings and Lara Casey dot com, and I am absolutely in love with it from start to finish!! I wanted to pop over here and say, BRAVO, and that I know who I am calling when my husband and I are blessed with a little one! Wonderful, wonderful job!

Meredith Perdue - What a lovely concept and incredibly special film for Lara, Ari, and Grace! This is another perfect example of one of your exceptional collaborations! Great job, guys!

Nancy Ray Photography : Promo Film

If you’ve never had a waffle at Jubala Coffee in Raleigh, NC, close your laptop and go get one right now. Nancy Ray would echo that sentiment. We met her last summer at Jubala, one of her favorite haunts, to sample the famed “pour-over” style of coffee, to indulge in a golden nugget of a waffle, and to discuss a promo film to coincide with Nancy’s re-branding launch.

We also got to meet Nancy’s husband and photography partner, Will Ray. We discussed the music of Josh Garrells, their adorable “puppy” Winston (despite his size, we assure you he actually is a puppy), and the brand Nancy planned to launch this fall with the help of luxury wedding guru Lara Casey of Making Brands Happen fame.

We were thrilled to see Nancy’s new website and branding yesterday, and are so happy to finally be able to share the fruits of our collaboration with Nancy and Will. We hope this short film gives you a glimpse into the personalities and lives of Nancy and Will. We’re so glad to call them friends.

Music: Gold Motel : “Perfect In My Mind”

Brett Fox - Perfect!! You guys do such a great job at telling everyone’s story. I love it!

Meredith Perdue - Nancy is too adorable! I’ve never met her, but it seems as though the film fits her perfectly.

Emily @ Southern Weddings - This is just perfect for Nancy + Will! Wonderful job, you guys! Also, I’m slightly obsessed with the song :)

Bryan & Lindsey : Reception Highlights, Durham, NC

When Philip and I were dating, and I lived in downtown Durham, we’d walk past the Imperial Building weekly on our trek to the  Durham Farmers Market. Never did we imagine we’d be filming a wedding reception in this beautiful historic building. Enter Lindsey, Bryan, and their sizable creativity. This fun-loving couple works in this building, and with the help of their families and some talented wedding creatives, they turned the top floor into one of the most exquisite wedding venues we’ve ever had the opportunity to film.

It was clear from the start that Lindsey & Bryan were going to have a fun wedding. We met them for beers at Fullsteam Brewery to chat about music and to hear about both their wedding plans and their story. Lucky for us, they are also dog lovers (hence the labradors sitting happily on the top of their cake!), and they stressed the importance of just wanting their guests to have a great time celebrating their wedding. I think you will agree with me after watching their reception highlights: their guests had a blast!

Lindsey & Bryan : your wedding reception was so true to who you are as a couple. It was SUCH a pleasure to be with you on your wedding day! We hope we’ll continue to see you around downtown Durham frequently, and will be sure to ask you for advice when we decide we’re ready to raise ducks!

Tim & Cate : Wedding Highlights, Washington D.C.

On an overwhelmingly gorgeous fall day in October, Cate & Tim joined their close friends and family to celebrate their marriage at the iconic St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C. Guests enjoyed cookie and wine pairings courtesy of Cookies & Corks, before the couple, looking absolutely glamorous in their wedding attire, exchanged hand-written vows as the sun set over the terrace. The details of the day were impeccable, but what truly caught our attention was the thoughtful words the couple shared with one another during their ceremony. Filled with candor, hope and promise, their vows represented their genuine commitment to one another, just as wedding vows should. We were so moved by their words that we included many of their vows in this highlights film.

For  Cate and Tim, no celebration would be complete without a celebratory meal and wine shared with friends and family. Guests enjoyed a five-course culinary experience at Adour, St. Regis’ luxurious French restaurant, which holds a special place in the couples’ life together: it’s where Tim proposed to Cate!

To Cate: We’ve been friends for a looong time, lady! It fills my heart with so much joy to see you beaming with love for Tim and the boys. He is SO LUCKY to have captured your heart, and we are truly thrilled to watch you grow together. Tim: what  a treat it’s been to get to know you over the last several months. I have no doubt in my heart that you two will be loving companions to each other, and beautiful role models for your boys.  Thank you both for allowing us to share in your special day.
