You may remember our highlights film from Bobby & Meredith’s fantastic wedding last spring. We were so excited to read that Southern Bride & Groom magazine featured their wedding in the latest issue’s “Real Weddings” section. Southern Bride & Groom, now in its 25th year in print, is packed with beautiful dresses, fantastic florals, creative inspiration, and practical advice for creating a memorable wedding day. To find a copy of the magazine, visit the SB&G website! Thank you, Jenna, for including us in this feature!
We’ve “known” Graham and Samantha for a while now, but didn’t actually meet them until this year, which is hard to believe! We knew them as “Grahamantha” and only through the kind words, fun anecdotes, and photographs shared by my sister, Meredith Perdue. They visit Meredith & Cain on their trips up to Maine and she photographed their lovely Chapel Hill wedding last year. Finally, last April we worked with Graham at this sentimental (and very adventurous) Chapel Hill farm wedding when he was shooting alongside Cindy Giovagnoli with Cuppa Photography. Everything we’d heard about Graham was true! He is kind, humble, and generous (offering for us to try the sweet Zeiss lens he brought to the wedding).
Fast forward to this fall when we finally got to meet the love of his life, Samantha. If you can’t tell from their engagement photos, these two are made for each other, truly! Samantha is warm; she makes you feel comfortable immediately. In fact, during our promo shoot I kept forgetting that I wasn’t there just to hang out with her!
We’re so grateful these two asked us to make a promo for Graham Terhune Photography! Check out Graham’s “Behind the Scenes” blog post from our shoot! The day we filmed was a gorgeous, warm November day in Chapel Hill. We filmed near their home as well as on Franklin Street and the iconic UNC campus. Big, big thanks to Mignon and Thomas for allowing us to tag along on this photo shoot, and for being such great models for this film!
Please check out Graham’s blog post of this promo film too!
Two of our favorite things: weddings and Christmas! There is something completely magical about winter weddings, especially just before the holidays, when the world is filled with anticipation and joy. Deena & Brad’s wedding was no exception. From the perfectly vibrant winter sunset just before their ceremony, to the luminary-lined walkway as guests exited the church, to the snow falling softly as guests departed the reception, this wedding was a spectacular celebration of the warmth of love in this frosty season.
Pay close attention to the aerial photos we included of the reception venue, which is a spectacular transformation of Deena’s family’s backyard in High Point, NC. It took nearly 18,000 sf of tenting, (sometimes 16 feet off the ground), a huge group of wedding creatives (please see below), and the imaginative design direction of JW Walton from The Catering Co. of Chapel Hill to create this magical space! A big thanks to the Grace Leisure Events team for keeping us so well-organized and for helping the night run so smoothly!
Deena & Brad: we’re sure your holiday was a bright one, with this wedding as a prelude to the season! We thank you and your warm families for making us feel so welcome and for giving us the opportunity to document such a stunning event! We wish you heaps of joy in the years to come!

After enjoying fantastic food and lively conversation on Thanksgiving day, Philip and I hopped a plane for New Orleans! Luckily, we were there to film a very intimate gathering: Kendall & Patrick’s betrothal ceremony and the dinner-dance that followed. The couples’ families gathered at Kendall’s grandmother (Gigi’s) home to celebrate the official commitment between Kendall & Patrick to enter into an “official” period of engagement before their May wedding in Highlands, NC.
If you’re anything like us, you’re asking yourself “What, exactly, IS a betrothal ceremony?” We wish we could have included the minister’s beautiful explanation of this old tradition, but alas, we must resort to paraphrase. For centuries, going all the way back to the time of Abraham, “getting hitched” was a two-part process. The first was a formal agreement to enter into marriage, or become betrothed. Couples still practice this today, but in a much less formal fashion, which we call “engagement”. Part two of the marriage process was the formal ceremony which is what we’re most familiar with in our culture: the wedding. In the words of the minister, “In those days, no one became married without first becoming betrothed.”
Gigi’s grand New Orleans home was the perfect setting for such a familial celebration. With its huge staircase, historic charm, and Gigi’s personal and artistic touches, the living and dining room were easily transformed into the perfect candlelit backdrop for the night’s festivities. Kendall looked gorgeous in her mother’s wedding dress, while Patrick sported family-heirloom cufflinks. The Joe Simon Trio kept the family dancing to New Orleans-style jazz tunes. The entire evening felt like a romantic scene from the 1920s!
AND this was our first time working with the fun and talented crew that is Pure 7 Studios. We had such a great time shooting alongside Ryan & Lindsey, whileErica kept us all organized and smiling! We’re so happy to call you friends, and thank you immensely for introducing us to Sucre. Mmmmm…
Patrick & Kendall: you and your families are so incredibly genuine and lovely. We’re so happy you found us! Your betrothal ceremony was one of our most memorable, favorite events we’ve filmed. Thanks for your hospitality in New Orleans and we are sincerely excited about your wedding weekend in Highlands in just a few months! Keep loving each other as you do so well!

OMG!!! i love what you guys have done, so fantastic! we miss you guys dearly & hope to reconnect soon : )
Once in a blue moon we meet a couple who shares such similar values and interests, that we leave the meeting feeling like we made new friends, not just new clients. Grady and Amanda are one of those couples. After breakfast on the porch at Fosters in Durham, we were fast friends! Even their wedding reminded us much of our own: intimate, crafty and in the quaintest chapel ever! The couple’s creative DIY touches (check out those coffee bean favors and record player guest book!) were matched only by the familial atmosphere of their ceremony and the dinner-dance that followed.
Oh, I should also mention the significance of the Western Union telegram, which was prominently displayed at their wedding. Grady proposed to Amanda by having a “stranger” approach her while they were in a public square, and give her the telegram he’d created with the help of his friends at The Martin Design Agency, to ask for her hand in marriage. Crazy-romantic and creative, huh?
This was our first time working with the lovelies from Kickstand Events. Courtney & Kate are the prefect mix of creative (they created the floral designs) and coordinated, and kept the party lively from start to finish. We hope to work with them again very soon!
Grady & Amanda: will you please move to the triangle so we can hang out? Seriously though, you two are such a special pair and we’re so happy we were with you on your wedding day! Your faith inspires us. We hope your love for each other only continues to grow and grow.

Philip and I were blown away by the rustic charm of The Hayloft, near McLeansville, NC. It was our first time at this adorable venue and we hope to return! The view from the loft, as well as the ceremony overlooking the pastures behind the barn, are spectacularly rural and were a perfect setting for Nicole & Charlie’s fall wedding. In an unforgettable moment of the ceremony, the couple, forever devoted to their families, shared a special prayer and balloon release in memory of loved ones who had passed on. Accompanied by their lovable dog Jake, who makes a few appearances in their highlights film, the two danced the night away with family and friends to the custom mixes DJ Mike Morse, of G-105 fame.
Many thanks to Nicole & Charlie for including us in your wedding celebration! We hope your first Christmas together is filled with joy and light.
