The “Inkspot Crow Family” : Love for Pax

As I write this, our baby boy Pax is kicking up a storm in my belly! If he’s this active when he’s born, we’re in for a real treat. Over the last few months, several friends and family members have celebrated the arrival of our little boy with generous cards, gifts and well-wishes. We wanted to share a few gifts (iPhone photo below) from our “Inkspot Crow” family….

Thanks to designer Chelsey Emery (Fourth & Folded fame!) for this adorable handmade print: “P is for Pax” ( I promise a better photo when we hang it, Chelsey!) We are excited to pick out a frame and hang this gift above his crib! Thanks for your thoughtful gesture! The soft lamb is a gift from his photographic-phenom aunt:  Meredith Perdue! You probably remember the promo we made for Meredith this summer while in Maine! And while we’re on the subject of fantastic photographers: Kellie Kano surprised us last week with Pax’s first pair of wellies. We should mention that this was a bit of an inside joke, given that we filmed part of her promo in wellies, in a bog! She also sent his first “hipster” outfit (plaid shirt to match his dad) which is not shown. We’re so happy to have become friends with Kellie while filming her promo film (debuts with her new website soon!)

Last November we filmed Grady & Amanda’s sentimental Wilmington wedding! On their wedding day, this sweet couple gifted us with Pax’s first booties and mittens. We couldn’t believe that in the midst of the hectic plans for a wedding, they were so kind to remember us and our new baby! Thanks guys!

And, this post would NOT be complete without a shout out to Jen & Heather from Bull City Pet Sitting! We loved filming their promo film last fall. They share our love for Durham, and knew that Pax would too…hence the Dur-Ham onesie!

We’re so grateful for the lasting friendships we’ve made through our business, and the well-wishes from our clients and other wedding creatives! We can’t wait for Pax to meet each of you!

The King’s Daughters Inn : in detail

This summer we filmed two weddings at The King’s Daughters Inn and we. fell. in. love. The inn is personal (the owners and staff are so kind!),  responsible (sustainable building practices and local products) and is packed to the brim with character and warmth signature to Durham’s Trinity Park neighborhood.

Innkeepers Deanna & Colin have breathed life into this iconic Durham home and I can’t think of a more perfect place to celebrate an intimate wedding or a weekend getaway. Philip and I recently spent a night at the Inn for our “stay-cation” .  I should note that the comfort of their beds is only outmatched by Deanna’s scrumptious breakfasts (best pancakes ever!). ENJOY!

Em @ Em for Marvelous - I love it! This place looks dreamy :)

Lara - Loved watching this! I absolutely would love to stay there. I’ll definitely keep it in mind if I’m ever down that way.

Bull City Pet Sitting : a day on the job

What’s not to love about Heather & Jen?  The founders of Bull City Pet Sitting constantly keep us smiling.  We first met these two fantastic women when they came over to meet our family (us and Charlie, of course) prior to taking us on as clients.  They won Charlie over immediately (what is it about those treats!?) and of course, we were soon to follow. We love the way they combine their extensive knowledge of animals with down-to-earth charm. Like us, they adore Durham, NC and have quickly become the favorite among discerning pet owners who must part with their furry friends for a day or a weekend. Personally, I don’t know what we would have done without these two this year! It’s always the biggest treat to return home after a trip or from a long day of filming, and read the hand-written notes from Heather or Jen. They detail their visits with Charlie (which usually includes plenty of cuddling, belly-rubbing, and walks in the neighborhood) and their words give us such comfort. We love leaving Charlie in such capable, loving hands!

This film is dedicated to Calvin, who passed away this winter. A long-time friend of Bull City Pet Sitting, Calvin was fondly known around Old West Durham as “The Mayor of Englewood”. I’m so grateful we got to meet this sweet pup, and document his affection for Jen & Heather.

“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight”. ~Kahlil Gibran, shared by BCPS on the day Calvin passed.

sarah der - ohhhhhh I just watched this again!!!! And here are my favorite parts: 1. Everything. And 2. also how Charlie is all wagging his tail because he knows the videographers are really just his baldy owners!!!! You can tell. By watching the vid. That he is so excited to be filmed by you. I love this.

Pup links! « Doggerel - [...] Bull City Pet Sitting: A Day on the Job. My favorite wedding videographers (one, sister to our much-beloved wedding photographer) created a video to promote a pet sitting business in Durham, North Carolina. It’s such a fun video and they did a wonderful job with it. What a fun promotional tool! (Inkspot Crow Films) [...]

Becky - Love your work, and this video got my heart right in its soft spot!
