In case you missed our excited Tweets and status updates last week, here’s the scoop:  remember Amanda & Grady’s intimate wedding filled with meaningful details about their relationship? Well, Style Me Pretty loved their vintage, love-inspired concept too. They featured the couple’s Wilmington wedding on their blog last week! Complete with gorgeous images from KMI Photography and heaps of beautiful DIY details and floral touches from Kickstand Events, this wedding was one of our favorites of 2011. sarah der - Yay! Such a lovely wedding, you two!

We have really enjoyed getting to know Raleigh photographer Renee Sprink. We first met Renee at Cate & Tim’s wedding at the St. Regis in Washington D.C. (Ironic that we are both from the same area of NC but meet for the first time while shooting in D.C.). Recently Renee joined us at our studio and we got to know her better, which was so fun. She kindly snapped a few photos of Philip and I, and just last week, blogged about us on her Wedding Wednesday feature! Thank you so much, Renee, for sharing our story with your fans! Last week Cate & Tim’s wedding film was featured on Style Me Pretty! Lucky for us, we filmed this wedding alongside Raleigh photographer Renee Sprink (who just so happened to kindly write about us on her blog last week too (read that HERE!). Cate & Tim’s vows, and the thoughtful intimacy of their ceremony, really wowed us, and we’re so excited that the editors at SMP thought so too! Many thanks to the sweet couple who allowed us to capture their celebration, and  fantastic list of wedding creatives we got to work with, especially Evoke DC and Renee Sprink.  Click HERE to see the feature!

Cory & Lindsay : Wedding Highlights, Chapel Hill, NC

After seeing my sister Meredith Perdue’s engagement photos of Cory & Lindsay, we were so thrilled to film their wedding. It was clear from their photos just how loving and playful this couple was together. It was upon getting to know them over dessert and coffee that our hunch was confirmed. This pair is adorable and completely smitten with one another! After a courtship in New Orleans they returned to make the triangle their home, and we’re so happy they did!

Cory & Lindsay’s wedding was a perfect way for us to kick off our 2012 wedding season. We got to work alongside my photographer sister, Meredith Perdue, who traveled from Maine to shoot their wedding. It was our first time working with Ashley Cakes and Joe Bunn himself (he kept the party alive and kept us laughing!) . Of course, the work of the Carolina Inn and Fresh Affairs was perfection (the Old Well Room was gorgeous!). But apart from these fantastic wedding details and notable vendors was the family at the center of it all. Filming this couple and their families was the perfect way to begin our 2012 season because it reminded us of WHY we do what we do. Sure, we’re there to capture the details and beauty of each wedding, no doubt! But we approach each wedding as documentarians.  We want to capture the bride’s father choking back tears during his toast, the comical banter between the groomsmen, an inside joke with the bride and her childhood friend. That is WHY we do what we do. Many, many thanks to Lindsay, Cory and your loving families for reminding us of this.

Ooh! And you must check out Cory & Lindsay’s wedding photos on Meredith’s blog!

Lindsay - MacKenzie and Philip, you know how obsessed Cory and I are about our video! Hint: you should also see how many Vimeo views there are. We are even more in awe of your talent now having seen this treasured film. I can’t tell you how much it means to have this! We LOVE it!!!

Meredith - Ah! I love this film so, so much! You did the most wonderful job documenting Cory & Lindsay’s fantastically lovely day!

Raleigh Rescue Mission : a documentary about love

Early this year our photographer friend Dara Blakeley introduced us to Leslie who works at the Raleigh Rescue Mission. Leslie was looking for a way to share a snapshot of the Mission’s work with donors and supporters, and felt a video was an ideal way to give voice to two groups served by the mission: women and children. We couldn’t have agreed more. Our time filming these courageous women and joyful children was extremely inspirational for Philip and I. We’re so excited for what Raleigh Rescue Mission is doing for the men, women and children in Raleigh, NC

Brent and Anna - Live View Studios - Awesome!

Our Golden Belt Studio, Durham, NC

We built our business working from home. We love that we can start exporting a project right before bed and wake up to find it ready to upload to Vimeo. I love sitting at my desk and watching the neighbors play on James Street. But alas, Pax arrives in 2 months and Philip’s editing studio wasn’t quite what I had in mind for nursery decor. To make room in our tiny home for our growing family we decided to find a shared studio space in Durham. Lucky for us, not only did we find an awesome space in a renovated Durham warehouse, but a very cool studio-mate who was gracious enough to share her work space with us! You absolutely must check out Rebekah Miel of Quick Brown Fox Studio! She is one crazy-talented Durhamite!

We’re loving Golden Belt. Our studio is in the Artists Studios (building 3 on the campus) and as you can see from our photos, drenched with natural light and quaint brick walls. We share the building with painters, graphic designers, letterpress artists, jewelers and many other Durham creatives.  This is a true working-artist space. On any given day, most artists are hard at work with their studio doors open, ready to welcome visitors and discuss their latest inspiration.

This Friday Philip and I will be in our studio to celebrate our first Third Friday. If you haven’t been before, it’s a worthy way to spend your Friday night: touring the artist studios, visiting Labour Love Gallery, The Scrap Exchange, Liberty Arts and enjoying local music, food trucks (Pie Pushers will be here!) and of course, Full Steam beer! Please join us! We are in Studio 3-143.
