Tre Bella : {flowers} + {bridal}

Sisters Becky, Rachael, and Kate are the creatives behind Tre Bella. If you haven’t met these three spunky ladies yet, you should! They are truly a breath of fresh air and our time getting to know them has been filled with tons of laughter and creative inspiration. Their work caught our eye a little over a year ago when my step-sister Keri carried the most gorgeous wedding bouquet I’d ever seen. Beautiful bouquet = this.  They were also the floral designers for a gorgeous Chapel Hill wedding we filmed this spring!

In addition to their lovely floral designs, Tre Bella’s downtown Durham bridal boutique houses some of the most exquisite gowns I have set eyes on! We lovethe intimacy of their boutique and the juxtaposition of the warehouse-district brick with the frilly frocks and chandeliers decorating their space.

Last month we joined photographer Meredith Perdue at Tre Bella’s workshop and boutique. While Meredith snapped photos for an upcoming magazine ad, we captured the sisters hard at work and in their element! As always, Meredith’s photos from the shoot are gorgeous!

Jeff B. Connolly : moving with purpose

Jeff Connolly moves with purpose. He inspires us with his passion and persistence for being a better lawyer, better friend, better father and better citizen. In conceptualizing Jeff’s promo film, it was important for us to convey his approachable, genuine, and thoughtful nature, while still paying homage to his success as a former prosecutor and experienced lawyer. After all, isn’t that what we all want in someone representing us: a hybrid of character, creativity and achievement?

We captured the footage for this short promo film in downtown Durham. Many thanks to The Cotton Room for graciously allowing us to film the interior shots in their beautiful space.

Green Plus Awards : people. planet. performance.

When Philip and I decided to start Inkspot Crow Films, we sat down to clarify some of our shared visions for our business. At the top of our list was the hope that we could work with organizations that shared our values and that our work would somehow contribute to making the world better. Enter Sarah Kate Fishback. SK, as we fondly call her, contacted us at the end of 2010 to talk about making a film for her employer, The Institute for Sustainable Development, who was hosting the 2011 Green Plus North American Sustainable Enterprise Awards at Research Triangle Park Headquarters in Durham. We saw this as an opportunity to connect with like-minded business leaders and use our craft to support a national organization with an excellent track record and a worthy mission. Congratulations to the businesses who were recognized that day. Thanks for inspiring us!

HB Hospitality : A Labor Of Love : Pinehurst, NC

Danielle Hinesley and I became friends when we both moved back to Pinehurst following college and work experience in other locales. Besides being the (seemingly) only single twenty-somethings in our town, we bonded over our dreams for the future and would constantly bounce our business ideas off one another over a post-work glass of La Crema. So you could imagine my excitement when Danielle asked me to film an event she’d organized at Pinehurst Resort. The first-of-its-kind event would pair meeting planners and luxury resorts in a fun-filled yet very intimate conference, which is perfect for building new relationships and business connections.
This January she called to tell me she was finally launching her own business: HB Hospitality which will provide experiential marketing to the nation’s top independent golf resorts – enabling them to engage the right customers in a meaningful way.
I had a blast filming this conference and was blown away by the details and attention Danielle brought to the event. Frankly, the girl always did know how to throw a party!

Reality Ministries : a story in five acts

We are not alone in our love for Durham. For the last five years Jeff McSwain and his team at Reality Ministries have made it their mission to serve Durham’s neediest citizens: our marginalized youth and special-needs community. They do this in a myriad of ways: after-school programs, an alternative high school, small-group Bible studies, summer camps and evening social programs for disabled teens and adults. On any given day, 60 teens may walk through the doors of the Reality Center, to be greeted by the Reality staff and its awesome corps of volunteer tutors, mentors and friends.

Filming the daily activities at the center gave us a “behind the scenes” look at the good things that are happening here and it made us really excited about what this group is doing in our city. In fact, it inspired us to begin volunteering at Reality as well. If you feel inspired, call Julie at (919) 688-7776.

Music: John Legend – “If You’re Out There,” Kanye West – “Family Business,” Moby – “Flower,” Max Richter – “Horizon Variations.”
